Lawyering For The Town
Lawyering For The Town is a blog about practicing law to help communities develop financial capacity, pursue racial and economic integration, and deepen democratic governance.
Lawyering For The Town aims to be a resource for community development practitioners, providing explainers, strategies, and conversations focused on how law and lawyers can help address the challenges facing our communities.
Basel Musharbash is an attorney in the Dallas office of Patel Law Group (“PLG”), where he practices real estate and corporate law. He is (slowly but surely) molding his practice toward supporting local governments, community development organizations, and mission-driven developers and investors in building sustainable, integrated, and democratic communities.
Prior to joining PLG, Basel served as student director of the GW Law School Community Economic Development Clinic and interned at the D.C. Department of Housing and Community Development, the D.C. Council’s Office of the General Counsel, and the Lawyers’ Committee for Civil Rights Under Law (Voting Rights Project).
